A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Aug. 9, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Brennyville, with the Rev. Daniel Walz officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery with military honors provided by the Hillman American Legion, Post 602 and the Gilman VFW Post 1558. Friends may call from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley and one hour prior to the service at the church. St. Joseph’s Council of Knight’s of Columbus #7539 Rosary will be at 6:15 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Paul Lesniak was born Aug. 28, 1930, in Gilmanton Township, Benton County to Louie and Veronica (Hess) Lesniak. He married Darlene Schueller June 18, 1958, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Morrill. The couple lived and farmed in Lakin Township, Morrison County, for many years. Paul was a past member of the Lakin Township Board; was a State Fire Warden for over 40 years; Board of Directors for Benton County D.H.I.A.; treasurer of the Benton County Association of Disabled Citizens; post commander and finance officer and life member of the Hillman American Legion, Post 602; life member of the Gilman VFW, Post 1558; life member of the Disabled American Veterans and life member of the Hillman Knight’s of Columbus, Council 7539. Paul was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War and was wounded in combat and missing in action. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Paul was extremely proud of his service to his country. He was musically talented and enjoyed playing for friends and family. He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene of Foley; sons and daughters; Kevin (Jenny) of Foley, Clarette Lesniak of Little Fall, Wayne and Jayne (Logan) Ramsey of Big Lake and Marla (Jeff) Foss of Pierz; sister, Marge Gruber of Pierz; 10 grandchildren, Tony, Jim, William, Christopher, Tara, Darren, Grey, Josh, Cory, Dillan and three great-grandchildren, Ava, Owen and Levi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lenny; and grandson, Michael Lesniak; brothers, Mike and Clarence and sisters, Frances Pella and Betty Miller.
