To the Editor:
Today I saw a yard sign which said,”Vote no on marriage amendment, Don’t put limits on who can marry.” This is precisely the point I want to make. The liberal, left, progressives (Democrats) want marriage totally open to “anything goes.” This opens the door to polygamy, man/boy (just check out the NAMBLA organization), human/animal, etc.
The goal of the leftist LGBTers, supported and embraced by Democrats, is to dilute the meaning and purpose of marriage as the foundational component of a civil society. When a letter from Massachusetts (July 29, Record) says gay marriage won’t hurt others rights, I disagree.
Here are some examples;
Religious groups have lost their state tax exemption when they refused to make their facilities available to same sex couples.
Catholic Charities in Boston, Mass., and Washington, D.C., have been forced to close their adoption agencies.
Non-profits have lost government contracts (for things like low income housing, health clinics) because of traditional principles.
In Massachusetts, children as young as second grade were taught about gay marriage in class. The courts ruled that parents had no right to prior notice, or to opt their children out of such instruction. — Patty Wilczek, Little Falls, chair of the Morrison County Republican Party
