Get to know your candidates

To the Editor:

Once again, it’s election time and all the political rhetoric will start. When the candidates start focusing more on how they can tear each other apart, versus the issues, I get a little agitated. During these times, all I see is someone who is cunning and divisive.

All said and done, I will be running again for the west side Council seat (Ward 3). In the past election, my opponents had a lot of integrity, and I commend them. I hope the same happens this time around. Beyond this, I will make a promise that I will not use gossip, lies or chicanery to demean my opponents. If I can’t stand on the issues, I don’t belong in a city office. I also have to be a responsible voter and look beyond hearsay and accusations and find out what the candidate is about.

Personally, I don’t know the people I am running against, and I have no preconceived idea of who they are. Thus, I can make no judgment. In other words, I need to get to know them as they should me. I hope before you make a decision on who you are going to vote for, you get to know the candidates, me as well as the others. Then your vote becomes more valid and educated. I will be going door to door asking for your support. If you have issues, please bring them up at that time or call me later. — Frank Gosiak Little Falls
