The Little Falls Partners for Peace and Occupy Little Falls will hold a vigil outside Camp Ripley’s main gate, located at 15000 Highway 115, Monday, from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Vigil participants may park along the right of way or in the parking lot near the Clark gas station. The vigil will demand the immediate withdrawal of U.S. Armed Forces from Afghanistan, the end of the drone bombing campaigns in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia and peaceful resolutions to the Syrian civil war and the dispute over Iran’s nuclear energy program. The vigil seeks to increase public awareness of the use of drones for war and surveillance in response to Camp Ripley’s construction of an unmanned aerial systems (drone) facility. The vigil will honor U.S. Secretary of State Frank B. Kellogg’s attempt to outlaw war through the Kellogg-Briand Pact, signed Aug. 27, 1928. After the vigil, a potluck dinner will be held at Belle Prairie Park, located north of Little Falls near Highway 371. In the event of bad weather, the potluck will take place in the Little Falls Carnegie Library’s large meeting room. The Little Falls Carnegie Library is located at 108 Third St. N.E. Everyone is welcome to attend the vigil and potluck.
