Thomas R. Hofmann, 62

Thomas R. Hofmann, a resident of Alaska, formerly of Little Falls, passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at University of Minnesota Fairview Campus in Minneapolis.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, Friday, Aug. 24, with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls.

Thomas Hofmann was born May 5, 1950, in Little Falls to Margaret (Bergstrom) and the late Ralph Hofmann. Tom attended school in Little Falls before moving to Hollywood, California and graduating from Hollywood High. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army, Dec. 14, 1967. Tom served three tours in Vietnam before he was honorably discharged Nov. 2, 1970. Upon his discharge, he enrolled at Central Lakes College in Brainerd for welding classes. He worked as a boilermaker for over 26 years through Local #647. He then retired to Sutton, Alaska, where his only job was to fish. Tom was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying everything nature had to offer, including fishing and hunting. He most of all loved being a father and grandfather. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

Tom is survived by mother, Margaret Hofmann of Little Falls; sons, Nathan Hofmann of Denver, Colo., Nicholas Hofmann of Denver, Colo. and Thomas Hofmann, Jr. of Sutton, Alaska; daughter, Mariah Desautel of Baudette; sister, Susan Czech of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren, Megan, Kristi, Ranata, Rihanna and Karter. He is preceded in death by father, Ralph Hofmann.
