Pierz split a pair of 4-3 matches at Friday’s Aitkin tri, taking down the host Gobblers while falling to Crosby-Ironton.
Aitkin picked up wins in the top two singles and No. 1 doubles matches, but Pierz utilized its depth to come away with the victory.
Senior Abby Bujalski won at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-2) and sophomore Kelsey Moulzolf cruised at No. 4 singles (6-2, 6-1), with the No. 2 doubles team of junior Stephanie Brill and sophomore Shelbie Boser (6-2, 7-5) and the No. 3 doubles team of junior Emily Okroi and sophomore Nikki Hoheisel (5-7, 7-6 (2), 7-2) also winning.
The Pioneers once again took two of three doubles matches against Crosby-Ironton, but the Rangers seized three of four singles match-ups to eke out a 4-3 win.
Moulzolf earned another straight-set win at No. 4 singles (6-4, 6-2), as did the duos of Brill and Boser (6-1, 6-3) and Okroi and Hoheisel (7-5, 7-6 (2)).
