Girls Tennis: Marschel leads Pierz to fifth at Pine City tournament

Junior Kiah Marschel earned runner-up honors at second singles to pace the Pierz girls tennis team to fifth place at the Pine City tournament, Saturday.

Marschel won her quarterfinal match 5-7, 7-5, 7-4 against her opponent from Crosby-Ironton, then reached the finals with a 7-6, 6-2 victory against a foe from Mora.

Senior Tarynn Kasper won her first match 6-1, 6-2 en route to a fourth-place finish in the top singles bracket.

The duo of junior Emily Okroi and sophomore Nikki Hoheisel were the consolation champions at No. 3 doubles, as was sophomore Kelsey Moulzolf at third singles.
