Cross Country: Royalton’s Carlson earns fourth at Pioneer Stampede

The Pierz girls took 12th and boys earned 14th at Monday’s Pioneer Stampede.

Sophomore Maggie Gruber (17:12.3) and senior Megan Hoheisel (17:29.2) each finished in the top 50 to pace the Pioneers girls, with sophomore Arre Langer (18:01.9), eighth grader Emma Hoheisel (18:14.2), sophomore Dana Hennen (18:44.9) and senior Beth Broschofsky (24:16.0) rounding out the lineup.

Sophomore Kyle Becker earned 23rd place in 18:09.8 to pace the Pierz boys, trailed by senior Will Corbett (19:25.5), freshman Matt Janson (20:27.7), senior Elias Schomer (21:12.3), sophomore Daniel Tautges (22:17.8) and senior Mitchell Czech (22:40.1).

Carlson led the Royalton boys squad with a fourth-place individual finish in 16:53.2, followed by Collins (18:28.3), Borash (18:37.1) and Stephen Strusz (19:36.9).
