Four area teams competed in Saturday’s Sauk Rapids-Rice (SRR) tournament, with Pierz winning three of four, Holdingford splitting four contests, Little Falls going 1-3 and Royalton dropping four matches.
After dropping its first match against Dassel-Cokato, Pierz rebounded to win its final three over Kimball Area, SRR and Holdingford.
Junior Bridget Bednar notched 30 kills and 11 blocks in the tournament for the Pioneers, with sophomore Jessica Hawks distributing 43 set assists.
Little Falls came from behind to earn a 19-25, 25-20, 15-11 win over Mora in its first match of the tournament.
Sophomore Kendra Pohlman was the Flyers’ leading hitter in the tournament with 16 kills, followed closely by senior Noelle Kurowski and freshman Laura Fregin with 14 apiece and junior Jennifer Ronning with 13.
Junior Sierra Virnig had 46 digs and junior Stephanie Wardarski accumulated 50 set assists.
Holdingford came away from the tournament with a pair of wins, prevailing in three sets against Rocori and Royalton.
