Volleyball: Royalton tips Swanville in five-set marathon

The Royalton volleyball team rallied from two sets down to pull out a narrow 19-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 24-22 win in a Prairie Conference showdown at Swanville, Tuesday.

Junior Emily Fussy was the leading hitter for the Royalton offense, slamming 11 kills, with senior Kalee Petron adding eight and junior Katelyn Kasella delivering five.

Sophomore Haley Olson set up the offense with 27 set assists and also recorded a team-high 19 digs.

Junior Jacquline Nichols provided eight service aces and sophomore Haley Gottwalt contributed six for the Royals.

Swanville was led by seniors Marissa Evans and Brittany Poegel, with Evans picking up 17 kills and 20 set assists and Poegel had nine kills and seven service aces.

Senior Tiffany Barthel made 24 digs and sophomore Simone Grittner contributed 15 for the Bulldogs defensively.
