The Pierz, Holdingford and Royalton cross country teams competed at Saturday’s Milaca Mega Meet, with the Holdingford boys and girls each earning third in the 46-team Class A division.
The sophomore duo of Abe Skwira (16:47.6) and Andrew Zachman (17:11.0) led the Holdingford boys to third overall, followed by senior Ryan Hartung (17:59.1), freshman Marcus Rick (18:15.5), sophomore Jacob Thell (18:40.8), junior Nick Hiltner (18:41.7) and sophomore Zach Ryan (19:01.8).
Royalton’s Zach Carlson crossed the line fourth in the sophomore race in 16:47.6, followed by teammate Trmayne Collins (17:50.6) in 18th place.
The Royals’ Ben Borash earned 13th in the freshman race in 18:09.1 and senior Stephen Strusz finished 94th in the varsity race in 19:03.1.
Pierz was led by Kyle Becker (18:24.1) and Daniel Tautges (21:06.8) in the sophomore race and Matt Janson (20:10.7) in the freshman race.
Sophomore Emily Wolter took fourth in 15:14.3 and freshman Alli Ruprecht earned sixth in 15:19.6 to lead the ninth-ranked Holdingford girls to third.
Eighth graders Jo Merten (15:45.5) and Angel Rick (16:17.4) placed in the top 22 for the Huskers, followed by senior Kaitlin Preusser (17:44.6) and juniors Abby Mokhtary (17:56.0) and Joelle Ertl (17:57.2).
Sophomore Maggie Gruber placed 39th in 16:54.6 to pace Pierz to an 11th-place finish, with senior Megan Hoheisel (17:41.0), sophomores Dana Hennen (17:49.0) and Arre Langer (17:57.5), eighth grader Emma Hoheisel (18:08.4) and senior Beth Broschofsky (24:18.4) rounding out the lineup.
Royalton’s Madi Rudolph placed 61st in the freshman race in 18:27.5 and Jenna Trutwin broke the 20-minute mark in the sophomore race, finishing in 19:50.3.
