Following a scoreless first half, the Flyers and host St. John’s Prep combined for five goals in a 17-minute stretch in the second, with the Johnnies coming away with a narrow 3-2 win, Tuesday.
Senior Stella Hecht buried a cross in front of the net from sophomore Katelyn Staab for the first goal of the match, but the Johnnies quickly responded with a pair of goals to go ahead 2-1.
Junior Katie Yorek netted a shot from 25 yards out off of a pass by eighth grader Mikel Vacek to tie the score back up at 2-2, but St. John’s Prep tallied the match’s final goal in the 62nd minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper Scottijo Meyer recorded four saves.
