Upsala’s homecoming week began Monday, with the coronation of Queen Tracy Hezog, left, and King Eric Frieler. Royalty for this year includes seventh grade – Danica Westrich and Bennett Westrich; eighth grade – Nicole Edin and Cody Rahn; ninth grade – Makayla Butkowski and Justin Cichon, 10th grade – Tara Christian and Christopher George, 11th grade – Savanna Johnson and Shawn Urbanski. Pages were fourth graders Gracie Leners and Austin Wensmann. Others chosen as senior royalty with the king and queen, were Brock Cichon, Nick Frieler, Avery Smieja, Garrett Wolf, Aimee Pelzer, Makenna Peterson, Rebecca Scepaniak and Sadie Welinski. The volleyball team took on the Long Prairie Grey Eagle Thunder at Jam the Gym night Tuesday, and the Royalton Royals Thursday evening. Dress-up days included Pajama Day, Twin/Triplet Day, Mismatch Day, Class Color Day and Spirit Day. Monday and Tuesday classes started off their class competition by decorating the gym during their lunch periods. Friday morning will be the Dollars for Scholars Walk-A-Thon followed by a pep fest and student game competition. The homecoming football game against Long Prairie Grey Eagle will be held in Upsala Friday, Sept. 28, followed by a dance at the school in the evening.
