Volleyball: Pelzer breaks Upsala records for kills, set assists at Burnsville Showcase

Upsala traveled to Burnsville to take on some of the top team’s in the state at the Class A showcase, Sept. 21 – 22, placing 11th out of 16 teams.

The Cardinals opened the tournament with a 1-2 record in pool play, falling 25-15, 25-19 to eighth-ranked Win-E-Mac and 25-18, 25-15 to fifth-ranked Mayer Lutheran before defeating Lake of the Woods 25-21, 25-19.

In the second day of the tournament, Upsala topped MACCRAY 25-14, 25-16 and fell 29-27, 25-11 to Canby before winning a rematch with Lake of the Woods 25-15, 25-22.



Upsala senior Aimee Pelzer set the school record for set assists in volleyball.  The previous record was 781.  As of September 25 she now has 880.

Miss Pelzer also started the year with 935 kills.  As of September 25, she racked up another 123 kills.  Her career kill total right now is 1,058.  The school record was 1,033 respectively.
