Dorothy Rush, 80

Dorothy Rush, a resident of Little Falls,  died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at the Harmony House in Little Falls.

A memorial service was held for Dorothy, Thursday, Sept. 27, with the Rev. Merril Kindall officiating, at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. A private burial will take place.

Dorothy Rush was born Oct. 3, 1931, in Perham, to the late Edward and Ethel (Johnson) Sonnenberg. She was united in marriage to Donald Rush, Oct. 10, 1958, in New York Mills. The couple lived in Big Lake, until moving to Little Falls in 1972. They owned and operated Rush’s Chicken Shack in Little Falls, Monticello, Buffalo and St. Cloud. The couple also owned and operated Rush’s Vac Shop in Little Falls. Donald passed away April 29, 2003. Dorothy continued living in Little Falls. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, casino, wine night with her family, cooking, playing cards, campfires and sitting in the sunshine. Dorothy’s greatest treasure was her time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, George (Anne) Rush of Little Falls, Ed Rush of Little Falls, Ronald (Jennifer) Rush of Melrose, John Rush of Little Falls, Steven (Lori) of Little Falls and Janell (Darwin) Posterick of Randall; siblings, Robert (Ingrid) Sonnenberg of New York Mills and Dale (Virginia) Sonnenberg of Albuquerque, N.M.; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and three on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ethel (Johnson) Sonnenberg; husband, Donald Rush April 29, 2003; grandson, Ben Rush in 2007; siblings, Raymond Sonnenberg, Bernice Frost, Janet Elmos, Verna Sillanpaa.
