Volleyball: Upsala blocks Royalton, remains undefeated in Prairie Conference

The Upsala volleyball team withstood a fast start by visiting Royalton en route to a 25-19, 25-12, 25-16 win, Thursday.

The Cardinals exhibited a strong blocking defense to slow down the Royals, led by senior Aimee Pelzer with five blocks.

Pelzer also recorded nine kills and 10 set assists, while sophomore Danica Cheney contributed seven kills and 12 set assists.

Senior Kalee Petron led Royalton offensively with six kills, followed by junior Emily Fussy with five and sophomores Abby Duevel and Hayley Gottwalt with four apiece.

Sophomore Haley Olson set up the offense with 23 set assists, while junior Jacquline Nichols and sophomore Jenna Skajewski both made nine digs on defense.
