Cross Country: Carlson leads Royalton boys to third, Gruber guides Pierz girls to fourth at Sauk Centre

Sophomore Zachary Carlson led the Royalton boys to third place and sophomore Maggie Gruber led the Pierz girls to fourth at Tuesday’s Sauk Centre Invite.
Carlson covered the course in 17:19 to finish fourth overall and sophomore Tremayne Collins placed 11th in 18:14 to lead the Royals boys.
Freshman Ben Borash took 17th in 18:41, followed by senior Stephen Strusz (19:32) and eighth graders Jordan Malikowski (21:37) and Thomas Strusz (23:15).
Senior Brianne Carlson led the Royalton girls to seventh with a 25th-place finish in 18:34, with freshman Madi Rudolph (19:05), junior Ciara Kowal-czyk (20:46), sophomore Jenna Trutwin (20:51) and junior Brittany Brower (28:01) also scoring.
For Pierz, Gruber turned in a time of 17:22 to earn 11th overall.
Senior Megan Hoheisel (17:53), sophomore Arre Langer (17:59), eighth grader Emma Hoheisel (18:02) and sophomore Dana Hennen (18:26) all finished in the top 21 to round out the lineup.
Sophomore Kyle Becker led the Pierz boys to eighth place, clocking a 12th-place time of 18:18.
Senior Will Corbett crossed the line next for the Pioneers in 19:08, followed by freshman Matt Janson (20:44), sophomore Daniel Tautges (20:57) and seniors Elias Schomer (20:58) and Mitchell Czech (22:57).
