To the Editor:
Your Sept. 30 editorial on the marriage amendment reflects a sad, secular and sickening society. Our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian, Biblical values. Your editorial is totally in opposition to such values but reflects an increasingly downward spiral into an immoral or amoral abyss.
Homosexuals lose no rights if they are not allowed to marry. It in no way denies them a right, which they cannot have in the first place. Voting in a constitutional amendment which would prevent some future misguided judge declaring homosexual marriage a “right” is only supporting what true God-fearing people would expect from the government.
It seems no one wants to actually call homosexual activity what it really is; and that is a sin of lust. Romans 1:26-27 says, “God therefore delivered them up to disgraceful passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and burned with lust for one another. Men did shameful things with men, and thus received in their own persons the penalty of their perversity.” Following verses say more.
Homosexuals just want us to recognize their behavior as legitimate through legislation. It can’t be made legitimate before God by legislation or judicial activism. That is what this amendment is trying to prevent. — Leo Heinze, Long Prairie
