John Thomas Kelash, 28, Pierz was charged Sept. 27, with one felony count of fourth degree assault of a peace officer, and one gross misdemeanor charge of fourth degree assault of a peace officer.
The complaint filed in Morrison County District Court alleges that on Sept. 25, Kelash was observed by a Pierz police officer, sitting in front of the Brickyard Bar and Grill in Pierz. It is alleged that Kelash had several felony warrants for his arrest out of Morrison County.
While trying to arrest Kelash, he attempted to escape. During the course of the incident two officers were allegedly injured.
If found guilty, Kelash faces a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and/or a $10,000 fine.
