MDHA asks for wolf sightings documentation

The Minnesota Deer Hunters Association (MDHA) is asking anyone with a trail camera who has captured a photo of a wolf to register the photo in MDHA’s Zone “B” wolf sightings survey.

Currently, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is planning a wolf population survey to run from fall 2012 through early spring 2013.

At the same time, MDHA is encouraging MDHA members and nonmembers to report their documented wolf sightings across the approximately 70 percent of Minnesota that is considered Zone “B” or non-wolf range.

To participate in MDHA’s Zone “B” wolf sighting survey, MDHA recommends that residents put out digital trail cameras with bait or scent attractant in areas they believe wolves frequent.

To report a sighting, complete instructions and the submission information are located on under the “Report Your MN Wolf Sighting” link. Or, people may call Kim Nelson (218) 327-1103, ext 16.
