Romney would be a pro-life president
To the Editor:
Where does President Barack Obama and his opponent, Mitt Romney, stand on the issue of life. This means protecting human life from conception to natural death; the child in the womb and the aging senior citizen.
On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) into law. It will provide funding for health plans that pay for abortion on demand and lead to the rationing of lifesaving medical treatments.
Presidential candidate Mitt Romney says; “Obamacare will violate that crucial first principle of medicine: “Do no harm.” Mitt Romney believes that Obamacare must be repealed.
Funding for abortion providers — In January 2009, President Obama nullified the pro-life “Mexico City Policy,” and began funding organizations that perform and promote abortion as a method of family planning overseas. Also, each year, hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars are given to Planned Parenthood, this nation’s largest abortion provider, reporting 332,278 abortions in 2009.
Mitt Romney says, “I will support efforts to prohibit federal funding for any organizations like Planned Parenthood, which primarily performs abortions or offers abortion-related services. On day one, I will reinstate the Mexico City policy.”
