Swanville High School announced its September Athletes of the Month. Brittany Poegel is the Bulldog Volleyball Athlete of the Month and Austin Mollner is the USA Patriots Football Athlete of the Month.
Poegel was selected as Swanville’s Female Athlete for her performances throughout September on the volleyball court.
“Brittany is a senior and is one of our three captains, and has been a true leader on and off the court. She has highly contributed to our successful season with her passing, defense, and attacking abilities,” said Coach Kerie Thoma. “Brittany has played the middle hitter position now for the Bulldogs for two years and is becoming a great all-around player, but she also sees time on the outside and right side when in the front row. Brittany’s positive attitude has been a spirit lifter for our team during practices and games. She always puts her team first and pushes herself and her teammates to do their best. Brittany has been a lot of fun to coach this season and with her contributions, along with her teammates, I can only see more successes in this team’s future.”
Mollner was selected as Swanville’s Male Athlete for not only his athletic abilities but for his leadership.
“Austin has been a vital part of the 3-1 start for the Patriots this season,” said Coach Jay Loven. “Austin has tallied up four touchdowns so far with 214 yards as well as being on the top of the defensive points list. Austin is a quiet, lead by example player who brings his ‘A’ game each and every week.”
