Volleyball: Pierz upends Rockford to improve to 5-0 in CMC

The Pierz volleyball team rebounded after dropping the first set to beat host Rockford Area 21-25, 25-23, 25-11, 25-19 and improve to 5-0 in the Central Minnesota Conference (CMC), Thursday.

Junior Bridget Bednar was the top hitter for the Pioneers with 16 kills, with senior Anna Welle and junior Tiara Hopkins each slamming seven and seniors Alyssa Boser and Kailee Monson adding six apiece.

Hopkins also had a team-high 18 digs, followed by Bednar and Welle with seven apiece and senior Miranda Woitalla with six, while Bednar also had five blocks and five service aces.

Sophomore Jessica Hawks passed out 27 set assists and senior Brook Brausen contributed five.
