The eighth-ranked Holdingford girls cross country team earned second place out of 38 teams at Saturday’s Swain Invite in Duluth, with the Huskers boys finishing seventh.
The Huskers girls trailed only top-ranked Esko at the meet while edging 11th-ranked Minnehaha Academy and 12th-ranked Blake School.
The Huskers trio of sophomore Emily Wolter (15:46.6), freshman Alli Ruprecht (16:06.9) and eighth grader Jo Merten (16:21.6) nabbed three of the top 13 places, followed by eighth grader Angel Rick (17:20.4), senior Kaitlin Preusser (18:04.6) and juniors Abby Mokhtary (18:05.4) and Joelle Ertl (18:14.7).
Sophomore Abe Skwira eclipsed the 17-minute mark to lead the Holdingford boys, earning 11th overall in 16:55.6.
Sophomore Andrew Zachman crossed the line next in 14th place in 17:04.9, trailed by senior Ryan Hartung (17:29.4), sophomore Jacob Thell (18:33.9), junior Nick Hiltner (18:51.6), freshman Marcus Rick (19:04.6) and sophomore Zach Ryan (19:05.6).
