Helen Heinz, 86

Helen E. Heinz, a resident of Little Falls, formerly of Freedhem, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie with the Rev. Joe Kerzing officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.

Helen was born April 23, 1926, near Bowlus, to the late Peter and Rose (Schiegton) Rudolph. She grew up in Bowlus and attended country school and then worked for the Franciscan Sisters in Little Falls. Helen was united in marriage to Harry W. Heinz Sept. 22, 1948, at St. James Catholic Church in Randall. After their marriage, the couple dairy farmed near Freedhem. They sold the dairy cows in 1985, but continued to crop farm until retiring in 2000. Helen enjoyed sewing and baking. She made the best homemade cinnamon rolls, doughnuts and bread.  Helen also enjoyed visitors and made sure they were well fed before leaving. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie.

Helen is survived by her sons, Harold (Shirley) Heinz and Henry (Dorothy) Heinz, all of Freedhem; daughters, Gladys Lott and Gloria Spaulding, both of St. Cloud and Grace Gulden of Eagen; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Leonard (Joyce) Rudolph, Bernard Rudolph and John Rudolph, all of Ft. Ripley; and a sister, Mary Kruchten of Brainerd.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, Feb. 17, 2007; parents, Peter and Rose Rudolph; brothers, Sylvester, Clarence and Ben Rudolph; sisters, Josephine Kohl and Johanna Zimmerman; and grandson, Tyler Nelson.
