Volleyball: Bednar powers Pierz past Little Falls

After splitting the first two sets, the Pierz volleyball team slipped past host Little Falls in the final two to earn a 25-23, 13-25, 25-19, 25-21 win, Monday.

Junior Bridget Bednar powered the Pierz offense with 12 kills and six blocks, while senior Anna Welle and junior Tiara Hopkins combined for 13 kills and 22 digs.

Seniors Alyssa Boser and Kailee Monson each added four kills and senior Michaela Rocheleau and sophomore Jessica Hawks contributed three apiece.

Hawks also had a team-high 21 set assists for the Pioneers and senior Brook Brausen distributed 14.

Senior Noelle Kurowski planted 11 kills and sophomore Kendra Pohlman delivered 10 to lead Little Falls, with both players also serving four aces.

Kurowski also led the Flyers’ defense with 20 digs, followed by juniors Sierra Virnig (15) and Stephanie Wardarski (14), senior Emily Suska (10), Pohlman (10) and juniors Jennifer Ronning (9) and Tristen Zimmerman (8), with Wardarski adding 27 set assists.
