Elizabeth Tomala, a 17-year-old senior at Pierz Healy High School, has organized a Halloween Haunted House as a National Honor Society project.
“The project will go toward my project, which is running my brother’s toy drive, called the ‘Jared Tomala Toy Drive,’” she said.
The haunted house will be open Halloween night, Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the gated city storage unit, just north of Pierz on Highway 25. The event is kid-friendly, with games to play and hot cocoa to warm up visitors.
The cost to enter is $3, or visitors can bring a new toy and get in at no charge.
“This project is in honor of my deceased brother,” said Tomala. “He always wanted to bring the sick children at the Children’s Hospital toys for Christmas. We have been doing this toy drive around the community since 2006.”
Many businesses around the community have contributed to the cause, said Tomala.
