Cross Country: Hoheisel, Becker lead Pierz at Section 6A meet

The Pierz girls team takes off from the starting line at Friday’s Section 5A meet in Pierz.

Eighth-grader Emma Hoheisel was the first Pierz girls runner across the finish line in 17:23.9 to lead the Pioneers to 13th place at Friday’s Section 5A meet in Pierz.

Sophomore Arre Langer (17:42.3) and senior Megan Hoheisel (17:42.5) came in shortly after, followed by sophomores Dana Hennen (17:52.6) and Maggie Gruber (18:05.0), eighth-grader Lily Guck (18:30.8) and senior Beth Broschofsky (22:31.3).

Pierz senior Will Corbett was the second finisher for the Pioneers with a personal-best time of 18:44.8 at Friday’s Section 5A meet in Pierz.

Sophomore Kyle Becker placed 44th overall in 18:08.0 and senior Will Corbett took 62nd in 18:44.8 to pace the Pierz boys to 18th place.

Freshman Matt Janson (20:10.1), senior Elias Schomer (21:00.0), sophomore Daniel Tautges (21:02.9) and junior Mitchell Czech (22:26.4) rounded out the Pioneers’ lineup.

Seniors for Pierz included Corbett and Schomer on the boys team and Broschofsky and Megan Hoheisel  on the girls team.

Pierz senior Beth Broschofsky covers the back half of the course at Friday’s Section 5A meet in Pierz.
