Matthew Grant Kennedy, 31, Little Falls, was charged Oct. 31, in the Morrison County District Court with one felony count of domestic assault by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of domestic assault, intentionally inflicting or attempting to inflict bodily harm on another person.
On Oct. 30, the Little Falls Police Department responded to a report of a domestic dispute. Officers met with the victim who was visibly upset. According to the criminal complaint, they were told the victim’s boyfriend, Kennedy, had caused the bloody lip and the mark on her throat.
The victim said she had confronted Kennedy about the possibility of his cheating on her. He allegedly pushed her onto the bed, sat on top of her and pinned her arms. The victim allegedly told officers Kennedy choked her for about a minute and a half, until she was on the verge of passing out, then punched the left side of her face.
Other injuries were later noted on her chin, cheek and ear.
Kennedy was located and placed under arrest for domestic assault.
If convicted, Kennedy faces a maximum penalty of three years imprisonment and/or a $5,000 fine.
