Funeral services for Norma we will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cushing. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.
Norma was born March 18, 1921, in Randall, the daughter of George O. and Emma (Schwanke) Nelson. She attended Randall Elementary School before graduating as Valedictorian from Little Falls High School in 1939. She continued her education at St. Cloud State University where she graduated with honors with a degree in education. She taught school for 41 years – two years in Cannon Falls; one year in Stockton, Calif.; and 38 years in Little Falls. Norma was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she participated in choir and altar guild, as well as teaching Sunday and Bible School. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Randall Senior Citizens and the Sew N Sew Club where she served as president. Norma enjoyed writing and completed a book about Randall, “Little City with Big Heart.” She also loved children, traveling and spending time with her family.
She will be missed and is survived by her brother, Lyle D. (Colleen) Nelson; step-brother, Vernon Berry; sisters-in-law, Bernice, Laurel, Dina, Gerry, and Joyce; 22 nieces and nephews; and numerous grand and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Evelyn; brothers, Vernon, Kenneth, George, Clem and Dennis; and stepbrother, Lyle Berry.
