Marie Blake, 98

Marie E. Blake, a resident of Little Falls, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, in Little Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m.  Monday, Nov. 12,  at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.  Sunday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.  Monday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Christian Mothers Rosary at 4:30 p.m. followed by Parish Prayers at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Marie E. Blake was born Aug. 6, 1914, to Clarence and Anna (Eisel) Benson. She graduated from Little Falls High School in 1932. She worked for the WPA as a Genealogy Historian. On May 23, 1938, Marie was united in marriage to Edward Blake at Sacred Heart Church in Little Falls. She was active in St. Jude’s Mission Circle, Christian Mothers, Garden Club, and the St. Mary’s Funeral and Adult Choirs. She loved to dance, play cards, collect dolls, do crossword puzzles and spend time with her family and many friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

Marie is survived by her children, David (Colette) of Napa, Calif., Roger (Mary) of Little Falls and Pam (Bob) Houle of Little Falls; sister, Virginia Brown of Little Falls; brother, Jerry (Collette) Benson of Little Falls, ; grandchildren, Kristy Blake, Tracy (Scott) Baumbach, David Blake, Jenny (Dan) Andersen, Heather (Greg) Jorgensen, Nicolle (Ron) Martin, and Robby (Kari) Houle; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Ed; parents, Clarence and Anna Benson; brothers, Clarence and Dell Benson; sister-in-law, Helen Benson; brother-in-law, Bob Brown; and great-grandson, Blake Martin.

Active pallbearers were David Benson, Jim Benson, Joe Benson, Robert Brown, Greg Jorgensen and Ron Martin. Honorary Pallbearers were Kristy Blake, Tracy Baumbach, David Blake, Jenny Andersen and Jim Brown.
