John ‘Jack’ Smith, 76

John ‘Jack’ F. Smith, a resident of Little Falls,  passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held  Saturday, Nov. 10,  at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls,  with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery.

John was born Aug. 21, 1936, in Swanville,  to the late A.J. (Jack) and Gertrude (Appl) Smith. He honorably served his country in the Air Guard. Jack worked various jobs throughout his life but the one he was most passionate about was being a small aircraft mechanic. For many years he owned and operated Rice Creek Aviation in Little Falls where he worked on small aircraft. His true passion in life was flying. Jack was also a volunteer fire fighter in Little Falls, for many years.

John is survived by son, Alan Smith of Ames, Iowa,  and sister, Jane (Patrick) Bailey of Tomah, Wis..

He is preceded in death by parents, A.J. and Gertrude Smith.
