Girls Swimming and Diving: Atkinson, Lyter lead Little Falls at section meet

Senior Carly Atkinson placed fifth and freshman Gabby Lyter earned sixth in diving to lead the Little Falls girls swimming and diving team at the Section 6A meet in Sartell, Friday – Saturday.

Atkinson finished with 299.1 points, with Lyter right behind with 298.85, leading Little Falls to seventh place as a team.

The Flyers were led in the pool by the sixth-place 200-yard freestyle relay team of freshman Makyla Klever, senior Emily Stark, sophomore Mati Gold and senior Diana Kempenich (1:47.55).

Stark added a seventh-place individual finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.21), while the 200 medley team of freshman Makyla Klever, seniors Emily Stark and Diana Kempenich and sophomore Mati Gold took eighth in 2:02.44.

Holdingford placed 11th as a team in the meet, led by the eighth-place 400 freestyle relay team of junior Megan Auger, sophomore Gabby Langerud, senior Brianna DeZurik and eighth-grader Arianna Vasilj (4:06.39).

Seniors on this year’s Little Falls team included Ashley Klein, Atkinson, Kempenich, Stark and Jordyn Himley.

Seniors on this year’s Holdingford team included DeZurik, Abigail Schwartz, Tiffany Skwira, Ashley Sobania and Alicia Thell.
