Junior Hockey: Flying Aces drop pair of one-goal games

The Minnesota Flying Aces junior hockey team dropped a pair of one-goal home decisions over the weekend, falling 2-1 to North Iowa, Nov. 9, and 4-3 to Alexandria, Nov. 10.

 

North Iowa 2, Flying Aces 1

Alex Yde scored a power-play goal for the Aces in the 14th minute of the third period to tie North Iowa at 1-1, but the Bulls struck with 13 seconds remaining to come away with the win.

 

Alexandria 4, Flying Aces 3

Chase Myers-Beck and Patrick Kegley recorded early goals to put Minnesota ahead 2-0 against Alexandria, but the Blizzard rallied to tie the score at 2-2 midway through the second.

Blake Williams put the Aces back in front 3-2 late in the second period, but Alexandria evened the score again 37 seconds later.

Neither team scored in the third, before the Blizzard prevailed 2-1 in a shootout to escape with the victory.
