Pierz football honors players at banquet

The Pierz football team recently honored standout players at its annual postseason banquet.

Earning first-team All-Central Minnesota Conference (CMC) honors were seniors Josh Lanners, Mitch Hasert, Nick Lochner, Ben Boser and Travis Johnson.

Seniors Brady Dorn and T.J. Hoheisel and junior Nathan Athman were named to the All-CMC second team.

Lanners was the CMC Most Valuable Running Back and Johnson was the CMC Most Valuable Offensive Lineman.

Lanners, senior Brent Stangl and junior Tyler Millner were selected to the All-Section 6AA team.

Also earning team awards were Boser (captain, leadership), Lanners (captain, most valuable player), Lochner (captain, hustle), Hasert (captain) and Stangl and junior Evan Woitalla (most improved).

The Pioneers finished the season with an 8-2 record and placed second in the CMC, with its only two losses coming against conference and section champion Holdingford.
