With four starters returning who averaged double figures in scoring a year ago, the Swanville boys basketball team is poised to leap into the fray with the top teams in the deep Prairie Conference this winter.

Coming back in the back court are seniors Tren Dinius and Colten Kruzel, with senior forward Austin Mollner and sophomore center Jordan Sales providing a strong presence in the paint.

Looking to round out the rotation for the Bulldogs are seniors Zach Holtz (center) and Trevor Loxterkamp (guard), juniors Cody Mollner (center) and Aaron Miller (forward) and sophomores Austin Johnson (forward) and Tyler Evans (guard).

Upsala, Browerville and Long Prairie-Grey Eagle will be the top competition in the Prairie Conference, Swanville head coach Steve Miller said, with West Central Area and Royalton close behind.

“We have a great group of guys coming back this year and it’s going to be an interesting year with a lot of great games,” Miller said. “If we can come back this year and be a better defensive team we will be tough. We have a great balance of scorers coming back and a very talented group of captains.”

Seniors on this year’s team include Tren Dinius, Zach Holtz, Tommy VanHove, Austin Mollner, Colten Kruzel, Trevor Loxterkamp, Gabriel Freitar, Guilio Mantecchini and Milo Koubsky.

Graduating from last year’s team were Derek Pfeiffer, Cody Novak and Tyler Becker.

Swanville opens the season at home against Osakis, Dec. 6.
