By PATRICK SLACK
Two-time state entrant and all-state junior Rachelle LeBlanc leads a deep contingent of returners for the Little Falls gymnastics team this winter.
In her second trip to state a year ago, LeBlanc placed fifth on the balance beam and ninth in the all-around competition, after also winning the Granite Ridge Conference (GRC) and Section 8A individual all-around.
Senior Amanda Hanson also returns in the all-around and earned All-GRC honorable mention honors a year ago.
Other returning starters include seniors Diana Kempenich (vault, beam), Caitlean Plumski (bars) and Desiree Haggerty (vault), juniors Taylor Axel (vault, beam, floor) and Stephanie Cluever (vault) and freshman Sarah Stout (all-around).
The Flyers went 7-7 last season, placing third in the GRC and fourth at sections.
Graduating from last year’s team were Megan Peterson and Staci Stein.
Seniors on this year’s roster are Hanson, Plumski, Haggerty and Kempenich.
Little Falls opens the season at Becker, Dec. 1, with its first home action against Melrose Area, Dec. 4.
