Morrison County District Court
The following people, charged with a gross misdemeanor or misdemeanor level crime in Morrison County District Court, have recently been sentenced:
Gross misdemeanors
• Ronald Kenneth Toivanen, 38, Olivia; (offense: 12/7/11) DWI – operating a motor vehicle when a body contains any amount Schedule I/II drugs – not marijuana, fined $985, sentenced to 120 days in jail and community service work for an indeterminate amount of time. Dismissed against Toivanen was one count of DWI – operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance.
• Dorina Diane Peterick, 52, Little Falls; (offense: 3/1/10) wrongfully obtaining assistance, fined $6,334, sentenced to 20 days in jail and supervised probation for two years.
Misdemeanors
• David Brian Brighton, 44, Anoka; (offense: 9/8/12) obstructing the legal process – interfering with peace officer, sentence combined with another case; and fourth degree DWI – operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, fined $560, sentenced to three days in jail and supervised probation for two years. Dismissed against Brighton was one gross misdemeanor count of third degree DWI – refusing to submit to chemical test.
• Marilyn Caroline Jones, 69, Hutchinson; (offense: 7/27/12) driver turning left failed to yield right of way to oncoming traffic, fined $135, sentenced to probation for one year.
• Aldean Palmer Burtson, 71, Brooklyn Center; (offense: 11/19/12) DWI – operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 within two hours, fined $560, sentenced to one day in jail and supervised probation for two years.
• Christopher Allen Moon, 20, Brainerd; (offense: 10/13/12) trespassing – refusing to depart, fined $385, sentenced to supervised probation for one year.
• Dean Martin Stewart, 44, Pierz; (offense: 10/12/12) DWI – operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 within two hours, fined $485, sentenced to one day in jail and supervised probation for two years. Stewart was also charged with no insurance – driver must carry proof of insurance when operating a vehicle, fined $50, sentenced to one day in jail and supervised probation for one year.
