Coming off a season in which it captured the Class A state consolation championship, the Flyers enter this winter as a favorite to again return to the Xcel Energy Center.

To get there, Little Falls will rely on a deep group of returning starters, including senior forwards Majerle, Newman, Bjorge, Maciej and Taylor Drager, defensemen Matt Stumpf, Spencer Fenske, Nathan Adamietz and Taylor Kottschade and goaltenders Michael Stumpf and J.D. Jopp, along with junior forwards Mark Anez and Jack Schulte.

Also looking to join the fray on the ice are sophomore Austin Fenske (forward) and freshmen Mack Anez (defenseman) and Tommy Miller (forward).

Seniors on this year’s team include Luke Majerle, Ben Newman, Austin Bjorge, Taylor Drager, Auggie Maciej, Matt Stumpf, Michael Stumpf, Spencer Fenske, Nathan Adamietz, Taylor Kottschade, Tyler Claseman,  Jopp, Owen Scherping and Tyler Erickson.

Graduating from last year’s team were Joey Hanowski, Sam Rydeen, Michael Holthaus and Mike Anez.

“The team is looking for a successful season,” Little Falls head coach Tony Couture said. “With a senior-dominant team, the Flyers should be very tough.”

“With Michael Stumpf in goal, the team looks to him to guide the team to a great season and with a tough defensive corps back, the team looks to be very defensive-minded and should be very tough to score on,” he said.

St. Cloud Cathedral enters as the favorite in the Granite Ridge Conference, Couture said, with Alexandria and Fergus Falls the top competition for the Flyers in Section 6A.
