Little Falls names October Athletes of the Month

Little Falls Community High School (LFCHS) named Kyle Gapinski, left, and Emily Stark its October Athletes of the Month. Gapinski, a senior on the boys soccer team, was a senior defender and captain for the Flyers this season. He was selected to the All-State honorable mention team and as All-Granite Ridge Conference and voted the team’s most valuable player by his teammates. “Kyle is a hard worker in practice and on the field,” head coach Julie Bell said. “He is not the biggest athlete on the team, nor as big as those he competes against, but his sheer determination, aggressiveness and desire to win make him play ‘big.’” Gapinski was a four-year starter for the Flyers and a scholar athlete. Stark, a senior on the girls swimming and diving team, was a captain for the Flyers and finished the month with the best non-tapered swim of her life in the 100-yard breaststroke in the Granite Ridge Conference (GRC) meet to earn All-GRC honorable mention honors. “Emily has been a great leader and example for our very young team,” head coach Tim Corbett said. “She gives it everything she has regardless of how she feels on a given day. Emily is the one that allows the team to climb on her back and she has led a number of comebacks with her leadership in the breaststroke.”
