Girls Basketball: Defending conference champ Howard Lake pulls away from Holdingford late

Holdingford played neck-and-neck with defending Central Minnesota Conference champion and ninth-ranked Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted through the first half, Tuesday, going into the break down only four at 35-31.

But the visiting Lakers limited the Huskers offensively in the final 18 minutes, pulling away for a 64-48 win.

Sophomore Joelle Ertl (14), junior Sam Maciej (13) and senior Jena Volkers (12) all reached double figures to lead the Holdingford offense.

Holdingford hosts Rockford Area, Friday.
