The sale of the Broadway Bar in Little Falls was finalized Nov. 27. On Thursday, John and Suzie Chaika open the establishment, located at 108 East Broadway, as Johnny C’s Sports Bar.
“I have always wanted to own a bar,” said John. “I have bartended here and there for many years and this is a dream come true.”
John and Suzie both worked for Crestliner in Little Falls until it closed in 2010. Sue got a job with Larson Boats, but John commuted to New York Mills, 144 miles a day.
“I needed a change from all that driving,” he said. “We were looking for a business, and the perfect fit came along with the Broadway Bar.”
Right now, John is spending 15 or more hours a day refurbishing the establishment.
The Chaikas are overhauling the kitchen. The renovations include a griddle and deep fat fryer, along with increased space to serve a sports bar menu after Jan. 1.
The main room, which seats about 75 people, has new paint and even more sports memorabilia than it had before.
It will also boast 10 televisions and a projection TV for bingo. The sports package for the bar comes through Charter TV’s sports package. WiFi is also available.
“We plan to include lunch specials,” he said. “I want to bring a relaxing and warm environment to Johnny C’s. The bar will be a friendly spot for friends to meet. My goal is a hometown bar with great service and where people come to have a good time.”
Johnny C’s will offer pool and dart leagues, and the Chaikas are looking forward to Texas Hold ‘em and bingo games being added.
Pull tabs through the Flyers Athletic Boosters will be available, but John said he will wait on the electronic pull tabs until he hears from his customers.
“Customer input on both food and entertainment will be huge in what the bar will offer in the future,” said John.
John will work the front of the establishment, bartending and serving the customers. Suzie will work the kitchen and be in charge of the office and bookkeeping.
Happy hour will be from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. with daily drink specials. Hours will be from 9 a.m,. – 1 a.m., Monday through Saturday. On Sundays, Johnny C’s opens at noon and closes at midnight.
Johnny C’s will be found on Facebook in the near future.
John and Suzie plan to hire approximately six people to work in the kitchen and the bar, along with cleaners.
