A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, Dec. 6, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Prairie with Fr. Laurn Virnig officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Clarence was born June 14, 1921, in Swan River Township, Morrison County, the son of Albert and Pauline (Schwientek) Kowalczyk. He grew up on the farm in Swan River Township and attended country school through the eighth grade. He was united in marriage to LaVerne Aschenbrener, June 30, 1949, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. The couple made their home on the family farm in Swan River Township along the Mississippi River where they raised their family. Clarence has farmed all of his life in Swan River Township. He enjoyed his visiting with his family and friends and playing cards with anyone that would play. In his spare time he loved to fish and his favorite was spear fishing in the winter right outside the front door of his home. He was a lifetime member of Holy Cross parish in North Prairie and a Trustee, the Knights of Columbus in Bowlus, on the Swan River Township board and a volunteer Fire Warden for the DNR for 39 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, LaVerne of Royalton; children, Ronald (Sue) Kowalczyk of Brainerd, Richard (Lori) Kowalczyk of Royalton, Kevin (Lori Poppen) Kowalczyk of Royalton, Larry (Beverly) Kowalczyk of Plymouth, Daniel (Beth) Kowalzcyk of Royalton, Joan (Randy) Swift of Crested Butte, Colo., Mary (Tom) Wehe of Durango, Colo., and Carol Kowalczyk of Sauk Rapids; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ted Kowalczyk and Flo Kay.
