Girls Basketball: Royalton holds off West Central

Royalton withstood repeated comeback attempts by visiting West Central Area, Friday, holding off the Knights for a 59-53 Prairie Conference win.

The Royals built a 15-point lead early in the first half, only for the Knights to close within 30-25 at the break.

Royalton again pushed its advantage to double digits late in the second half, but the Knights forced the Royals to sink a series of key free throws down the stretch to close out the win.

Senior Kandy Meyer was the scoring leader for Royalton with 15 points, with senior Kalee Petron and Jacquline Nichols each adding nine.

Juniors Emily Fussy and Lulu Martinez and sophomore Haley Olson followed with seven points apiece, freshman Payton Johnson had three and junior Courtney Popp scored two.
