Are you still here?

If you are reading this article then you can take comfort in knowing that the world did not come to an end Dec. 21 as predicted by some because of the Mayan calendar that ended on that date. Luke 21:9 — “And when you hear of wars and disturbances, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end does not follow immediately.”

No one can say that what we just read is not now happing but we are cautioned not to be terrified as these things must happen. So the time of the end is near but we do not know when, as this is God’s will and timing.

People have tried to predict the end of the world as we know it for centuries. Books like The Late Great Planet Earth and Eighty-eight (88) Reason Why the Rapture will be in 1988 held many people captive and some even took their own lives because of the fear that gripped them over these false predictions. Articles written in prominent newspapers around the world have already reported people doing the same thing. Some articles are depicting people as charging their credit cards to the maximum as they think the end will come and they will not have to pay off the cards.

Rev. 2:36 — And he who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over the Nations.”

Our job is to keep His deeds or commands as found in the Bible until the end. Since we do not know when the end is coming it is our best interest to continue following the instructions found in His Word.

Matthew 25:13 — “Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour.”

Fear grips many people in many different ways but we do not need to fear. We are instructed in the Bible that gives us Truth that we should trust in God.

Take confidence in the following scriptures found in your Bible.

1Tim. 4:10 — “For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.”

I Tim. 6:17-20 — “Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, storing up for themselves the treasurer of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed. O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called “knowledge.”

So do not fear the words of those in the world with all their mountains of “mans” knowledge but trust in the very Word of God spoken to us in the Word of God. Read your Bible and pray for His peace and understanding.
