Taxation hearing ended too soon

To the Editor:

My wife and I walked into the Randall City Council chambers at 6:42 p.m. to attend the Truth in Taxation meeting and were informed that after 10 minutes the meeting had been adjourned at 6:40 p.m., and we were too late to ask any questions or discuss the increase on our tax statements.

When I asked about this, I was informed by the city secretary about the meeting, not by the mayor or Council members. The regular Council meeting starts at 7 p.m. and I assumed the meeting would run from 6:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

By adjourning right away and sitting there for 20 minutes, the Council and mayor can assure no public input. It is unfortunate that our local government officials are not interested in input from the citizens of Randall. — Gary and Cathy Gannon, Randall
