William W. Matvick, 75

obit-wmatvick-picWilliam W. Matvick, a resident of Hillman, died peacefully at home Monday, Dec. 31, 2012.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Brennyville, with the Rev. Leo Moenkedick officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery, rural Foley.

William Matvick was born July 25, 1937, in St. Cloud, to Walter and Ann (Rymer) Matvick. He married Frances Wassel Dec. 29, 1958, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Brennyville. He had lived and farmed in the Hillman area most of his life. He had worked at Hergess Meats; Robel’s Packing for 27 years; Long Prairie Packing for five years; and Westling Manufacturing for one year before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Brennyville.

He is survived by his wife, Frances of Hillman; sons and daughters, Beverly (James) Wiebe, Brenda (Tom) Wimmer, Antoinette (Joe) Kippley, James (Tammy), Mary (Brad) Stroot and Andrea (Ryan) Sobania; Wayne (Julie); 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jerome, Roman and Anthony.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gerrard William Matvick; and sister Gloria Aukland.
