Girls Basketball: Seventh-ranked Upsala withstands Holdingford upset bid

Holdingford hung around throughout the game, but visiting Upsala pulled out a 61-51 win to improve to 9-0 on the season, Tuesday.

Seniors Aimee Pelzer and Tracy Herzog spearheaded the Cardinals’ attack, combining for 37 points and 17 rebounds, with Pelzer dishing out eight assists and Herzog swiping four steals.

Senior Alissa Zehrer added seven points, sophomores Sara Herzog and Brooke Westrich both scored six and senior Sadie Welinski netted five for Upsala.

Senior Jena Volkers led all scorers with 21 points on the night for Holdingford, followed closely by sophomore Joelle Ertl with 17.

Also scoring for were juniors Jodi Middendorf (6) and Sam Maciej (5) and sophomore Kaitlyn Hellmann (2).
