Slowing down the seventh-ranked Upsala girls basketball team’s offense is hard enough when shots aren’t falling.

When they are, it’s almost impossible, as the Cardinals displayed at Swanville, Tuesday, striking for 47 first-half points in a 77-39 victory.

Senior Aimee Pelzer led the charge, sinking 6-of-8 three-pointers in a 26-point performance while also dishing out 10 assists to record a double-double.

Senior Tracy Herzog also posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds while swatting away six shots.

Six others also scored at least four points, including seniors Alissa Zehrer (9) and Sadie Welinski (8), sophomores Sara Herzog (7), Brooke Westrich (5) and Kristin Wuebkers (4) and junior Kaelin Smieja (4).

Zehrer added six rebounds, Smieja had five and Wuebkers distributed four assists.

Swanville was guided by senior Marissa Evans with 19 of the Bulldogs’ 39 points, followed by sophomore Danica Hanson (6), seniors Tiffany Barthel (4) and Abbey Schultz (4), junior Nikki Primus (3), sophomore Steph Koetter (2) and senior Chloee Larson (1).
