Byron Smith, charged with second degree murder in the shooting deaths of Haile Kifer and Nick Brady, will next appear in court in May.
Smith was originally set to appear in court Tuesday, Jan. 22.
His attorney, Steven Meshbesher, requested a delay and Morrison County Judge Douglas Anderson granted the request. Smith’s next court appearance will be May 6.
In a letter to the judge, Meshbesher said DNA and toxicology reports won’t be complete until early spring. The letter also stated the defense must gather and review a significant volume of information and evidence prosecutors plan to introduce in the case.
Smith was released in December after posting $50,000 bail.
